Testing and tagging is an important process to ensure the safety of portable electrical appliances in the workplace. This involves a visual inspection, followed by testing the appliance with a Portable Appliance Tester (PAT) in compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) or Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and workplace codes of practice.
Students enrolling in this course will:
- Gain the knowledge and skills to apply safe working practices and follow procedures for hazard identification and risk control when entering a work area.
- Learn to perform in-service safety inspections with precision, ensuring compliance with workplace safety standards.
- Acquire the expertise to test portable electrical equipment, including appliances, cords, plugs, and sockets, as per the guidelines of Australian Standard AS/NZS 3760.
This course is designed to equip participants with the confidence and competency to perform testing and tagging safely and effectively in various workplace environments.
