Testing and tagging is an important process to ensure the safety of portable electrical appliances in Canberra and Capital Territory workplaces. This involves a visual inspection, followed by testing the appliance with a Portable Appliance Tester (PAT) in compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) or Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and workplace codes of practice.
Students enrolling in this course will:
- Gain the knowledge and skills to apply safe working practices and follow procedures for hazard identification and risk control when entering a work area.
- Learn to perform in-service safety inspections with precision, ensuring compliance with workplace safety standards.
- Acquire the expertise to test portable electrical equipment, including appliances, cords, plugs, and sockets, as per the guidelines of Australian Standard AS/NZS 3760.
This course is designed to equip participants with the confidence and competency to perform testing and tagging safely and effectively in various workplace environments across The Australian Capital Territory.
